Pollock Bowls

Dan Pollock's bowls are unique, one-of-a-kind hand carved sculptures made from recycled wooden stumps found in the forests of California.

Dan Pollock was born and raised in Southern California and has spent the past 31 years living on a fifteen acre ranch located in the high desert near the San Bernardino National Forest. He is a woodsman turned artist whose first love has always been the forest and its tranquility, which inspires his art. Pollock uses woods such as White Fir, Giant Juniper, Cottonwood, and different types of pine as his medium of choice. When creating a sculpture, it is very important for the artist to always find sources for wood that will not require a living tree to be cut down. As he sands and smooths the wood, Pollock seeks to reveal each piece's own gentle, aged lines.  Pollock explains his process: "My sculptures are sometimes for the sake of art and sometimes function, often both. In any case, each sculpture has its own charm and appeal."
