CB-28 Spindle Chair
BassamFellows' Spindle Chair was inspired by a trip to Phillips Exeter Academy Library – the brainchild of renowned architect Louis Kahn – in Exeter, New Hampshire. “Kahn paired a very traditional spindle chair with his powerful modern architecture,” says Craig Bassam. “The contrast was simultaneously jarring and sublime.” By taking that design tension and applying it to a chair, BassamFellows has brought a new approach to the spindle archetype. The ergonomically shaped seat and streamlined back are supported by spindles rendered in metal rather than the traditional wood, giving the chair a sophisticated, airy feel and creating the illusion of two surfaces floating in space.
